I will be meeting with my HR folks to try and determine how we as an agency handle our exposure process and paperwork. Our HR department is used to dealing with all exposure paperwork regardless of an exposure or not.
We recently had an event where the hospital did not report in a timely fashion and our guys took post exposure meds but it turned out as a negative exposure. our HR now wants to submit all paperwork for state compensation coverage.
I am looking to everyone else to share how they handle their paperwork flow,
Does your Designated officer have a separate exposure file that is different from the medical file? Does your HR department have full access to the file?
Who handles the Insurance claims if the exposure is a positive? Does your HR department get all paperwork even if it is not an exposure (just a initial investigation).
